Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Once upon a time, in a peaceful little village surrounded by tall green trees and colorful wildflowers, there lived a curious little girl named Goldilocks.

Goldilocks had shining golden hair that curled softly around her face. She had bright blue eyes, rosy cheeks, and a cheerful smile. She loved exploring the woods near her home, where birds sang sweet songs and butterflies danced among the flowers.

Her mother often reminded her, “Stay on the forest path, and always be respectful of other people’s homes.”

Goldilocks always promised to be careful.

One beautiful morning, the sun shone warmly through the trees, and the forest looked especially magical. Goldilocks put on her favorite blue dress, tied a ribbon in her golden hair, and carried a small basket filled with strawberries and biscuits.

“I’m going for a little walk,” she called happily.

“Stay safe,” her mother replied with a smile.

Goldilocks skipped down the winding forest path. She admired the bright flowers, listened to the chirping birds, and watched fluffy white clouds drifting across the sky.

As she walked deeper into the woods, she spotted a family of rabbits hopping through the grass. Then she followed a sparkling butterfly with wings of blue and silver.

Without realizing it, Goldilocks wandered farther than she had ever gone before.

Soon she came to a lovely little cottage nestled among the trees.

The cottage had a red roof, flower boxes under the windows, and smoke curling gently from the chimney. Three wooden chairs sat on the porch, and colorful flowers bloomed all around.

Goldilocks knocked politely.

“Hello?” she called.

No one answered.

She knocked again.

“Is anyone home?”

Still, there was only silence.

Goldilocks noticed the door was slightly open.

“I’ll just look inside and see if anyone needs help,” she whispered.

She stepped into the cozy cottage.

Inside, everything was neat and warm. Sunlight streamed through the windows, and a delicious smell of oatmeal filled the air.

On the table were three bowls of porridge.

One bowl was very large.

One bowl was medium-sized.

One bowl was tiny.

Goldilocks had been walking for a long time, and she felt very hungry.

She tasted the large bowl.

“Ouch!” she cried. “This porridge is much too hot!”

She tasted the medium bowl.

“Brrr! This porridge is too cold!”

Then she tasted the tiny bowl.

Her eyes widened with delight.

“Mmm! This porridge is just right!”

She ate every last spoonful.

After her meal, Goldilocks began to feel tired.

In the living room stood three chairs.

One chair was large and sturdy.

One chair was medium-sized and comfortable.

One chair was small and delicate.

Goldilocks sat in the large chair.

“This chair is too hard.”

She sat in the medium chair.

“This chair is too soft.”

Then she sat in the little chair.

She smiled.

“This chair is just right!”

But suddenly—

CRACK!

The little chair broke beneath her.

“Oh dear!” said Goldilocks.

Now she felt even sleepier.

Upstairs, she found a bedroom with three beds.

One bed was large and wide.

One bed was medium-sized and cozy.

One bed was small and snug.

Goldilocks lay on the large bed.

“This bed is too firm.”

She tried the medium bed.

“This bed is too lumpy.”

Then she climbed into the little bed.

She pulled up the soft blanket and yawned.

“This bed is just right.”

Within moments, Goldilocks was fast asleep.

Meanwhile, the owners of the cottage were returning home.

They were the Three Bears: Father Bear, Mother Bear, and Baby Bear.

Father Bear was big and gentle, with a deep rumbling voice.

Mother Bear was warm and caring.

Baby Bear was small, playful, and kind.

They had gone for a walk in the forest while their porridge cooled.

When they entered their cottage, Father Bear sniffed the air.

“Someone has been eating my porridge,” he said.

Mother Bear looked at her bowl.

“Someone has been eating my porridge too.”

Baby Bear peered sadly into his tiny bowl.

“Someone has eaten all of my porridge!”

In the living room, Father Bear noticed his chair.

“Someone has been sitting in my chair.”

Mother Bear examined hers.

“Someone has been sitting in my chair too.”

Baby Bear looked at his broken chair and gasped.

“Someone has been sitting in my chair, and they broke it!”

The bears hurried upstairs.

Father Bear looked at his bed.

“Someone has been sleeping in my bed.”

Mother Bear looked at hers.

“Someone has been sleeping in my bed too.”

Then Baby Bear squeaked in surprise.

“Someone is sleeping in my bed!”

At that very moment, Goldilocks opened her eyes.

She saw three bears standing beside the bed.

Goldilocks sat up quickly, her heart pounding.

For a moment, everyone stared at one another.

Then Goldilocks remembered her mother’s words.

She climbed down from the bed and bowed her head.

“I am very sorry,” she said softly. “I should not have entered your home without permission. I ate your porridge, broke your chair, and slept in your bed. I was wrong.”

The bears looked at one another.

Mother Bear stepped forward kindly.

“Thank you for telling the truth.”

Baby Bear smiled.

“I was sad about my chair, but I’m glad you said sorry.”

Father Bear nodded.

“What matters most is that we learn from our mistakes.”

Goldilocks felt tears in her eyes.

“I will repair your chair and bring fresh porridge tomorrow.”

The bears smiled.

Mother Bear handed her a small honey biscuit for the journey home.

Baby Bear waved happily.

“Please visit again—but next time, knock and wait for us!”

Goldilocks laughed.

“I certainly will.”

She hurried home through the forest as the golden sun began to set.

The next morning, Goldilocks returned with wood to mend Baby Bear’s chair, a basket of fresh oats, and a bouquet of flowers.

Together, they fixed the chair, cooked warm porridge, and became wonderful friends.

From that day on, Goldilocks always remembered to respect other people’s homes and belongings.

And the Three Bears were always happy to welcome their honest and kind friend.

And so, in the heart of the peaceful forest, friendship, forgiveness, and good manners lived happily ever after.
